Ph. D. in Latin American History from the University of Illinois, Chicago in 1987.  Dr. Nelson attained the rank of Professor, and served as Chair, Department of History at Frostburg State University;  Head Department of History and Philosophy at Eastern Michigan University; and Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities, & Social  Sciences at the University of Central Missouri. Despite his administrative responsibilities, this passionate teacher/scholar has always made time to engage with learners in and outside of the classroom. He wishes every individual to recognize that failure to learn from the past condemns us to a repeat of past neglect, recklessness, and atrocities.
